The Maidenhead Concert Band is a community band formed in January 1998 by Father and Daughter, Peter Ripper and Carrie Rogers to enable musicians of all ages to get together and play on a regular basis.
The band is conducted by Peter Ripper, a versatile professional musician with a considerable reputation as a saxophonist. We are fortunate to have had original pieces of music composed for us, and many pieces specifically arranged for the band.
The band rehearse weekly at St. Peter's Church, Furze Platt and give two or three major concerts a year as well as perform at many local fund raising events during the summer months. In 2006 we performed during the World Rowing Championships in Dorney.
Charities which the band has supported in the past include; Cancer Research UK, Save The Children, Maidenhead Mencap, Thames Valley Hospice, Thames Valley Adventure Playground, Daisy’s Dream, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the National Children’s Home. Money has also been raised for the St. Peter’s Church building fund.
We are also a marching band; having taken part at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee parade in Windsor, as well as appearing on Midsomer Murders. We are also regularly at the Maidenhead Carnival and Twyford Remembrance Sunday Parade. We can even provide smaller groups for weddings or private / business functions.
